CLMV Reporting Conference 2023 (Vientiane | 28 April 2023)

AFA supports CLMV stakeholders on adoption and implementation of IFRS

AFA together with the Lao Chamber of Professional Accountants and Auditors (LCPAA) successfully organised the hybrid CLMV Reporting Conference 2023 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The one-day conference was organised as a platform for further discussion on CLMV-focused issues in the adoption and implementation of the IFRS Accounting Standards and the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard. It was built on the hosting of the first CLMV IFRS webinar organised by AFA and ACCA in 2020.

Welcome addresses from Sonexay Silaphet (President, LCPAA), Voravit Janthanakul (President, AFA), and H.E. Bounpone Vannachith (Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance, Lao PDR) highlighted the need for collaboration to ensure successful adoption and implementation of international standards in the ASEAN jurisdictions, including IFRS. Among the presenters and panellists participated at the conference were Professor Sidharta Utama (Board Member, IFAC and Council Member, AFA), Rika Suzuki (Board Member, IASB), Nishan Fernando (Chair, AOSSG), Nakhonesy Manodham (Director General, Accounting and Finance Department, Bank of Lao PDR), and Oh Saysanith (Head of Division, Accounting Regulatory Department, Ministry of Finance, Lao PDR).

The Conference was attended by around 500 participants (in-person and virtual) from the ASEAN jurisdictions.
